2016 has proven to be a landmark year for Lightning Bolt Solutions — new team members, new buzz, new technology advancements. As we’re quickly approaching the beginning of a new year, let’s take a look back at Lightning Bolt’s Best of 2016.

Access Optimization: a scheduling solution for patient access

As an expanded service to the core Lightning Bolt scheduling platform, in October we launched a first of its kind technology ever for the healthcare sector: Access Optimization. This new system evaluates supply and demand to automatically generate even more sophisticated schedules for hospital operations, allowing healthcare organizations to more efficiently utilize physician resources and advance patient access initiatives.

 

New team members

Our team of high caliber employees grew steadily throughout 2016 in all areas. Among the new faces was health IT industry veteran Gavin Yoder, who we welcomed in June as vice president of sales to lead, mentor, and set the vision for our growing sales team. 2016 Physician Scheduling Complexity by Specialty report

In June, we released the 2016 Physician Scheduling Complexity by Specialty report, a first-ever look at physician shift scheduling trends using real data from over 5,500 medical department schedules across the country. The analysis provides actionable insight for hospital operations administrators and physician schedulers in any specialty. From the root causes of physician burnout to the challenges of 24/7 hospital coverage, this is must-read research for healthcare leaders.

 

The Lightning Bolt Advisory Board

At the start of 2016, we began assembling a distinguished group of physician leaders from across the country as inaugural members of the Lightning Bolt Advisory Board. This year’s pinnacle meeting was the first annual Advisory Board Summit, held at the Lightning Bolt headquarters in South San Francisco. The meeting included discussion around the triple challenge currently facing healthcare — reducing physician burnout and improving patient access while also meeting business objectives — a challenge that drives Lightning Bolt’s aim in building innovative, impactful technology solutions. The Lightning Bolt Ambassador Program

Because we get so many new clients through referrals, we wanted to thank our clients who are ambassadors for Lightning Bolt. By referring friends and colleagues, existing clients have the opportunity to earn rewards for themselves, their friends, and even nonprofit organizations through the Lightning Bolt Ambassador Program.

 

User training series

The Lightning Bolt team began hosting user training events this year for clients in and around the Bay Area. The daylong events are part of a three-level training series where clients have the opportunity to interact with Lightning Bolt application consultants in both large and small group settings to learn scheduling best practices. Full mobile support from Lightning Bolt is coming in early 2017 as we launch the first-ever Lightning Bolt Android app as well as a fully updated iPhone app.

 

User interface updates
