Simple to Use:
From the ground up, we have designed JustInTime scheduler to be as simple as possible. The design philosophy that has led to its simplicity is that “less is more”. Minimal set of buttons, minimal number of icons and a minimal set of features used in a consistent fashion across contexts lead to a uniform interface that is at once simple to use yet expressive and powerful. Whether you are entering a personnel, a holiday, a template, a schedule, a preference, a rule, you consistently apply the same operations, namely “List”, “Create New”, “Edit”, “Cancel”, or “Delete”. Less buttons and icons mean less to learn and to remember.

Extensible Templates:
Templates are scaffoldings for building a perfect schedule. They define the scheduling policies, rules and requirements that remain constant across scheduling periods. When you generate a new schedule, you instantiate the template by populating it with providers while observing the structure defined in the template. You might have a template for a day shift, a call schedule template, or different templates for different departments and facilities in your organization. JustInTime makes it possible to keep a library of templates that you select from when you need a new schedule. Scheduling patterns re-occur across organizations and across departments. Rather than re-inventing the wheel each time you want to generate a schedule, templates allow you to leverage existing patterns and best practices.

Mathematically Sound Algorithm for Generating Schedules.
JustInTime Scheduler uses a patent-pending method for generating accurate schedules in the presence many complex rules with varying priorities and exceptions. It is number one reason that users who have tried all other software products finally find a solution in JustInTime Scheduler.

Scheduling Rationale Made Transparent to Users:
Whether hand-generated, or generated by a computer program, individulas often seek to know why the schedule is the way it is. In particular, they might want to know why they are being scheduled on a particular day. In JustInTime 2.5, you simply click on a calendar day to find out all the detailed rationale that went into scheduling choices for that day. It gives you a list of alternatives and constraints on those alternatives. A friendly icon interface allows you to quickly identify who is and who is not available on that day along with the rules and priorities of the rules that are in effect that day.

JustInTime Views Time as a Continuum:
Because of the difficulties and limitations of generating schedules by hand, users are forced to think of schedules in discrete, static blocks of time. When using JustInTime, users come to view time as being more flexible. Schedules can be generated for any range of dates, whether it is for one day or 2 years. This has important implications because when a new event occurs (such as a staff takes an emergency leave, or a new staff joins the group), the user simply needs to click on a button to re-generate the rest of the schedule that incorporates the new event. Because there are no discrete boundaries, you can also view statistics for any date range. Furthermore rules, preferences, and equalizing algorithm works across boundaries of scheduling periods.

JustInTime Allows for Human Intervention When Required:
While JustInTime does much to automate the scheduling process, it does not alienate the user. User can still manipulate the schedule and manually schedule any day in the calendar if desired. Before a new schedule is first created, users can manually pre-schedule certain chosen days. When JustInTime schedules, it schedules around the manually pre-scheduled or pinned days. Just as users can pre-schedule certain days, users can also post-schedule any day after JustInTime has generated the schedule. JustInTime also aids manual scheduling by listing who is or is not available in a given day. As described above, users simply click on a day to know all the rules and preferences that are in effect for that day.

Reports and Statistics
In addition to using statistics internally to guide the scheduling choices, JustInTime also provides digestible summaries to users for any scheduling period or for days between some user-specified date ranges. Viewable reports include tally of total days worked, tally of assignment to day types defined by users (such as weekends, holidays, etc.), tally of days assigned to tasks, and tally of staff pairings.

JustInTime is just in time:
JustInTime equalizer engine ensure, to the extent possible, that assignments are evenly distributed. The equalizer engine not only schedules total days evenly, but also schedules to evenly distribute days between any assignments, days between specific assignments, days between day types (such as weekends) and to distribute staff pairings equally so that each staff gets an equal opportunity to work with every other staff. An easy to use interface called “Equalizer” allow the user to determine the relative weight of different ways to equalize. For staff members who work part-time, JustInTime’s equalizing engine takes their desired work percentage into account when scheduling.
