Management

Suvas Vajracharya, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer/Founder

Suvas brings over two decades of education and experience in the research, development and marketing of software products. Suvas holds several patents, pending patents, and has authored research publications on various topics related to staff scheduling and the scheduling of supercomputers. Prior to founding Lightning Bolt Solutions in 2002, Suvas led a team of engineers in building internet products at Inktomi, Inc (acquired by Yahoo!). Previously, he was a staff scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked on methods to schedule massively parallel supercomputers for running Grand Challenge scientific applications.

Suvas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a PhD. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Nirmal Govind, Ph.D. - Director of Research and Development

Nirmal's interests lie in the application of Operations Research to solve complex problems in healthcare. He has extensive experience in operations management in the semiconductor industry including real-time scheduling and planning of semiconductor manufacturing. Prior to joining Lightning Bolt Solutions, Nirmal worked at Intel Corporation for 5 years where he led the research and development of Intel's first real-time automated production scheduling and execution system that was implemented across Intel's factories. He also led the development and implementation of Intel's factory maintenance planning and scheduling solution to improve factory throughput. Nirmal has also worked with IBM and Samsung on semiconductor manufacturing research.

Nirmal received the Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the Pennsylvania State University. His work has been published in leading conferences and journals in semiconductor manufacturing and Operations Research. He is a past chairman of IEEE/SEMI Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference and serves on the editorial committees of peer-reviewed journals and conferences in the Operations Research area. He has also served as an industrial liaison for academic research funded by the Semiconductor Research Council and National Science Foundation.
