Management

Suvas Vajracharya, Ph.D. - Chief Executive Officer/Founder

Suvas brings over two decades of education and experience in the research, development and marketing of software products. Suvas holds several patents, pending patents, and has authored research publications on various topics related to staff scheduling and the scheduling of supercomputers. Prior to founding Lightning Bolt Solutions in 2002, Suvas led a team of engineers in building internet products at Inktomi, Inc (acquired by Yahoo!). Previously, he was a staff scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked on methods to schedule massively parallel supercomputers for running Grand Challenge scientific applications.

Suvas holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a PhD. from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Yuri Smirnov, Ph.D. - Director of Research and Development

Dr. Yuri Smirnov has been an accomplished technologist, entrepreneur and executive in the high tech industry for 15 years. He has a proven track record in the fields of Enterprise Software product development, partner alliances, and operating management. Dr. Smirnov has a tremendous amount of experience in several areas including ERP, SCM, CRM, RFID analytics, search, planning, scheduling and optimization. He led R&D development at Westinghouse, PeopleSoft, Calico Commerce (IPO, then acquired by PeopleSoft), Combinenet and T3Ci.

Dr. Smirnov holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics and Operations Research from St.Petersburg State University, and a PhD in Computer Science and Operations Research from Carnegie Mellon University. As an Adjunct Professor, Dr. Smirnov assisted in opening CMU-West at Moffett Field, CA and taught Computer Science to MSIT students.
